Toshiba Satellite S855D-S5253 15.6-Inch Laptop Pc Review

Toshiba Satellite S855D-S5253 15.6-Inch Laptop Pc Review I purchased this laptop as a replacement for my HP DV5Z that died of a motherboard failure. When researching laptops I found that Toshiba and Lenovo have the highest current reliability ratings so those were the two brands I focused on. I was looking for a laptop with the new AMD A10 processor because of the good integrated graphics, which brought me to the Toshiba Satellite S855D-S5253 15.6-Inch Laptop (Ice Blue Brushed Aluminum). The laptop arrived quickly and was a breeze to setup. Unpack, plug in, put in my wireless password and I was all set. There is a moderate amount of crapware installed, but not really too bad. Some of the included Toshiba apps are useful, but others are just reskinned Windows functions. The laptop is very attractive with the brushed aluminum top cover, palm rest and speaker cover. The rest is shiny black plastic that contrasts well with the brushed aluminum. Overall it feels light, but sturdy. The keyboard is comfortable and gives decent tactile feedback while typing. It also has a full number pad which is unusual on laptop this size. The “F” keys double as the FN keys, and a nice touch is the FN key icons are highlighted brighter then the “F” key number. This the reverse of most laptop keyboards and is a useful touch as it makes finding the volume or screen brightness keys easier. The Toshiba Satellite S855D-S5253 touch pad is large and slightly textured as are the buttons. The texturing really makes this one of the best touch pads I’ve used, as it just feels more accurate with the texturing. The display is bright and crisp, with clear text and good contrast. I’ve found no dead pixels or any other defects on my display. Sound out of the built in speakers is surprisingly good and clear for such small speakers. When hooked up to external speakers the SRS HD audio sounds really nice.
